La Fortuna
Discover the rainforest when the sun goes down.
When darkness arrives, the rainforest of La Fortuna transforms into a completely different world.
Our Night Wildlife Walk takes you into the tropical forest after sunset to discover the incredible animals that become active at night.
Led by a local wildlife guide, you will explore the trails slowly and carefully, using flashlights to search among leaves, branches, tree trunks and the forest floor.
Depending on the conditions and the animals’ natural behavior, you may encounter red-eyed tree frogs, glass frogs, snakes, geckos, spiders, insects, sloths, bats and other nocturnal wildlife.
But no two nights are the same.
Wild animals move freely through their natural habitat, which means every walk is different. Sometimes the smallest frog becomes the highlight of the night; other times a snake, sleeping bird, sloth or unusual insect surprises the group.
Throughout the experience, your guide will explain the behavior, adaptations and ecological importance of the animals we encounter.
This is not just a night hike. It is an opportunity to experience Costa Rica’s rainforest when most visitors are already asleep.
